Thoughts: Education and Excellent Sheep

Came across this book in the WSJ. The title "Excellent Sheep" sums up quite well (as does the book it seems) much of what students become even in the best schools and universities today. (I guess in this I would be classified as a former mediocre sheep who remains mediocre...)

Seems that in trying to incentivise a few more materialistic children and families to get better grades the government has gradually but surely pointed almost everyone and all children to think piecemeal grades are there just to help you make more money.

Could it be that all sides are driven by greed than for want of character and knowledge itself? Corrupt morals in corrupt leaders corrupts the erring public.

In a world of excellent sheep a few sly wolves can hold ever more sway. Let us parents ensure that we raise shrewd and discerning children as we exemplify bold and sacrificial living. God be gracious towards our endeavors and frustrate the powers that go against your glorious will.
