Thoughts: Abortion - From Controversy to Civility

If anyone's shocked today by @JakeReesMogg's unabashed comments for unborn human rights (even if sometimes at the strain of abused womens' rights and well-being) I recommend watching this Google Talk www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzzfSq2DEc4 by Stephanie Gray.

Kudos to those able to respectfully stand-up for what they believe in spite of intolerance; thanks also to Google for encouraging a culture of dialogue with those 'they' disagree with. I hope more of us can be as willing to engage with such serious, sensitive and often personally painful issues with the same seriousness, openness and respect.

Also anyone who wants a deeper Christian perspective on the underlying heart issue should read Ch18 of Mum Enough (free on desiringgod.org) which my wife quoted to me yesterday. My heart aches for everyone who has faced these issues personally, and hope they find comfort from our gracious God.

Only 95 years ago (1922) we outlawed infanticide but then 50 years ago (in 1967) we denied that human right be extended to the even more vulnerable. 8.7 million human fetuses who would have otherwise have grown and been living among us; some of them old enough to be grandparents themselves. An invisible population the size of Wales and Scotland combined, and another 60 joining their ranks today. My heart must ache for these too.
