Book Notes: A Christian's Evangelistic Pocket Guide To Islam

Bought for 50p you can't go too wrong. I read through this book by Malcolm Steer in an afternoon; and for the small time I gave to reading it it has given me far more in insight and understanding than I was expecting. It looks through:

1. Islamic Belief and Practices
2. Misunderstandings about the Gospel
3. Arguments against the Gospel
4. Getting the Message Across
5. Getting the Approach Right

And although it all sounds very clinical I believe it is necessary to better equip us in understanding the beliefs that many of our friends and neighbours have. Understanding the many good things that Islam tries to covey as well as their differing beliefs about God is necessary so that we can see which aspects of Christianity are so hard for a Muslim to believe and which parts of our theology are more difficult to understand.

If you aren’t sure on what grounds Christianity and Islam share common ground and on what truths they have radically contrasting views that I suggest you at least put aside a few sitcom sized time allotments to grab a book like this one and get to grips with it.
