There is a story of a curator in an art gallery who was incredibly proud of his collection of paintings. However he found it hard to tolerate some of the cultural philistines who came to view them.
And one day as he was walking through the gallery he heard a tourist, it wasn't recorded whether this tourist was British, American or of some other nationality; but he heard this tourist commenting:
“What a terrible picture! I can’t understand why they should hang such a monstrosity in public?”
The curator was furious. He stepped forward and turned to the visitor saying:
“Sir, the merit of these paintings is not in question. It is those who view them who are on trial.”
Jesus says that you may have many questions, but it is your responce to me; your verdict on my life, and death, and resurection; your acceptance or rejection of me; it is that which seals your destiny.
