Experiences: Home Youth

Caught up with my home church youth this evening for a bible study in the park. We looked at Genesis and throughout I had to restrain myself from contributing my many ,unrefined, thoughts and opinions on creation, evolution, intelligent design and of course the Goldilocks enigma. What I shouldn't have restrained from was my dismay that throughout the study there was logic and questioning yet absolutely no wonder.

I looked at the first verse of Genesis and couldn't help smiling as a score of questions filtered through my mind. I think the difference between me and the others at that moment was, that despite being an inquisitive scientist, I still found myself ashing the why questions rather than the how questions. Why did God do this, why did He think me into being, into a eternity of wonder and of grace. This has even more exciting prospects than the possibility of discovering a scientific universal theory of everything. And that was what made me smile which dare I say it is even more important than the questioning and thinking through that must also take place.

Still watching and listening to a number of talks from desiringgod.org including this message on 'Boasting Only In The Cross' which is very thought provoking.
