Encouragements: Unfailing Love

With so much time to spare I urged myself this week to study through the entire books of wisdom in the Old Testament. So far: Job which I've spoken about, Ecclesiastes which is just depressing (unless taken from within a Christian perspective of hope), Song of Songs which was a pleasant insight into intimacy and love; a major contrast from what seems a constant bombard of verses stressing the importance of fearing God, and today the first two parts of the Psalter (a major contrast to watching Simpsons The Movie which was also an encouragement of today).

Amongst much worth meditating on the theme of 'unfailing love' stood out most. Throughout there are a number of references to God's unfailing love in a variety of contexts:

Turn, O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love
Psalm 6:4

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
Psalm 13:5

For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.
Psalm 21:7

Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.
Psalm 31:16

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.
Psalm 32:10

The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
Psalm 33:5

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those who hope in his unfailing love.
Psalm 33:18

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
Psalm 33:22

How priceless is your unfailing love!
Psalm 36:7

Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love.
Psalm 44:26

Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.
Psalm 48:9

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
Psalm 51:1

I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.
Psalm 52:8

Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
Psalm 77:8

Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.
Psalm 85:7

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Psalm 90:14

Well worth much meditation, in my opinion, and should be read in context but if I may draw out what strikes me most:
How one can rely on 'unfailing love' when in times of difficulty and that God can be considered a God of 'unfailing love' even in such times.
How we should rely on 'unfailing love' when we pray to God.
That all beauty we see around us is a gift of God's 'unfailing love'.
That through hoping in 'unfailing love' and meditating on it we may realise it's vastness even in times of distress when we feel unloved.
We can recieve strength through the knowledge of 'unfailing love'.
Evan as we see the beauty of creation or are in good times we can hope to see more of God's 'unfailing love'.
'Unfailing love' judges justly yet offers extreme grace and sacrifice.
