Some of the best parts of the weekend for me:
New and quieter young people settling in and becoming part of the group.
Not conceding a single goal in the 5-aside football tournament.
Young people hogging torches at night because they were reading their Bibles.
Eating a lot of BBQ Beefburgers.
Something worth reflection however was the fact that many of them didn't want to go to the main meetings, yes they were long but the were still packed full of dramas and games. And yet as I caught up with those who stayed at the campsite they even asked to sing worship songs with me, and we did so for almost half an hour.
They don't have a problem with the messages that are being preached or the God that we share our hope in moreover they can't stand long talks or groups of strangers jumping around them during worship, and as important it is to possess life skills like being able to concentrate for more than 5 minutes and be confident enough to express themselves in worship to their creator God theses will come in time and should not take precedence over the core message of the Gospel.
Is it possible that there are some that are unwilling to sit through a church service but would still be willing to surrender their life to Christ? Does becoming a Christian demand that you develop the concentration skills required to sit through long messages? What other ways are there to pursue a knowledge of God, what other ways are there to share our knowledge of God?
